PASSION DISTRIBUTION SECURES CANADIAN DEALS AHEAD OF BANFF

London, 10th June 2014 - Ahead of Passion Distribution's attendance at BANFF next week, the distributor is excited to announce a number of deals into Canada, licencing over 100 hours of content into the region since MIPTV.
Proper TV, the Canadian production house, has agreed terms to produce a tenth season of Passion’s WORST DRIVER franchise. Originally produced by Mentorn Media for Channel 5 in the UK, the format has been produced in over 17 territories and with this deal CANADA’S WORST DRIVER becomes the longest running version of the format. Airing on Discovery Network Canada, the format is the hilarious search for the country’s most appalling driver with the contestants competing in a series of driving challenges and has performed well for Discovery being the number 1 Canadian produced entertainment specialty TV program on Discovery in 2013.
Blue Ant Media's service Travel + Escape has finalized a large package deal of programming from Passion’s extensive The Weather Channel catalogue. The deal includes the intriguing natural disaster series TORNADO ALLEY (8 x 60’) and HURRICANE 360 (8 x 60’), the awe-inspiring BUILDING INVINCIBLE (3 x 60), the revealing WHY PLANES CRASH (13 x 60’) and the fascinating legend-telling WICKED IN THE WEATHER (W/T) (8 x 60’). The broadcasters has also licensed the latest season (Season 2: 8 x 60’) of Pioneer Productions’ STRANGEST WEATHER ON EARTH for it's nature service Oasis.
For its feed into Quebec, Groupe Serdy has picked up season 3 (15 x 30’) and season 4 (26 x 30 & 1 x 60’) of Paperny Entertainment’s EAT ST. (Season 1 - 5: 93 x 30' & 1 x 60'). The long-running food series is a lip-smacking celebration of North America’s tastiest, messiest and most irresistible street food, seeking out the very best curb side eats. Groupe Serdy has also picked up the first season (Season 1: 13 x 60’) of the Scripps Networks International’s food competition series CUTTHROAT KITCHEN (Season 1- 5: 65 x 60’).
Other deals into the region include a deal with Out TV which continues its successful run of World Of Wonder’s RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE, pre-buying the latest season (Season 7: 14 x 60’) of the hit drag competition to launch next year. Rogers licenced Firecracker Films’ global hit MEN IN RUBBER MASKS (1 x 60’) for City and OLN.
