The two one-hour films provide a revelatory and shocking insight into the sex lives of teenagers today. Both films performed well for Channel 4 when they premiered on Monday 5th and Thursday 8th July. UNDERAGE AND HAVING SEX (2x60’) gives viewers a frank and uncensored account of a young person’s viewpoint regarding one of every nation’s most controversial dilemmas, as they and their families negotiate the minefield that is underage sex. Despite clear warnings about high rates of teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, never before have so many young people in today’s global society embarked on having sex so young. In the first of the two films we see three sets of parents confront the fact that their underage daughters are sexually active, and in the second we meet a 13 year old boy who has been having sex for a year, and the story of one set of parents in shock when they learn their 15 year old daughter recently lost her virginity.
