CATASTROPHE AVERTED AS PIONEER PRODUCTIONS CALLS IN PASSION DISTRIBUTION
Passion Distribution and Pioneer Productions announce their first project together as Pioneer gives Passion distribution rights to CATASTROPHE, a major 5 x 60’ documentary series produced by Pioneer for Channel 4 and Discovery. Multi award winning Pioneer Productions is one of the most successful UK production companies and is well known for its blue chip documentaries. It has, produced over 500 hours of adventure, science and technology, docu-drama, lifestyle, current affairs and history programming for both the US and International markets. Pioneer’s critically acclaimed productions have attracted both high audience viewing figures worldwide as well as many prestigious awards. CATASTROPHE (5 x 60) is an absorbing series which takes us on an incredible journey through the extraordinary life of our planet – and in particular, examines the violent global catastrophes that have changed the face of the Earth. These major global events were true cataclysms – each one wiping out much of the life on the planet – and setting evolution itself off on a new direction. In fact, were it not for these geological, climatic, and cosmic disasters – mankind itself would probably never have emerged. With magnificent CGI effects and world-leading scientific experts, the series reveals how evolution has been fundamentally driven by these lethal events – and just how accidental our own presence on the planet really is. The series is available in two versions, one fronted by Tony Robinson and one without presenter.
