A PASSION TO MAKE THE CURIOUS AND UNUSUAL HAPPEN
January 11th, 2011 - Passion Distribution is excited to announce it has ensured there will be a second season of CURIOUS & UNUSUAL DEATHS Season 2 (13x30’, HD) with the confirmation of a pre-sale to AETN UK for their Crime and Investigation Channel UK & EMEA to assist in the production funding. The second series order doubles the number of episodes produced in Series 1 (6x30’, HD), which was CI UK’s highest rating third party acquisition in 2010. The deal was struck by Passion Distribution’s Director of Sales, Emma Simpkins, and AETN’s Senior Manager Programme Content, Koulla Anastasi. Producers, Lamport-Sheppard Entertainment, will be producing the second series out of their Canadian base, but have recently expanded their operations with a new London office and are looking forward to future development of more Canada/UK productions. Koulla Anastasi, Senior Manager, Programme Content at AETN UK, says: "We're really pleased to have extended our involvement in the new series of Curious & Unusual Deaths and hope to duplicate its success with our viewers when it comes to Crime & Investigation Network later this year." Sally Miles, CEO Passion Distribution says: “We are really excited Lamport-Sheppard is expanding and adding a London base. It makes their programming great value to licence in the UK with the Canadian co-pro tax benefits.” Foxtel’s Crime and Investigation Channel Australia & New Zealand have also snapped up Season 2. Season One has previously sold to Foxtel C&I, Australia & New Zealand; LIC, China; Yam, Italy; Nippon TV, Japan; BBC Knowledge, Pan Asia; TV4 Fakta, Pan Scandinavia; TVN Turbo, Poland; Truevisions, Thailand; Origo, Hungary; Chello C&I, Spain and AETN C&I in the UK. In every episode of Curious & Unusual Deaths the viewer is presented with three of the strangest deaths history has ever recorded – and the science that explains them. In this brand new season 2 we uncover the facts behind the grizzliest, most bizarre or simply unavoidable deaths from across the globe! From the man killed by 3 cigarette butts, to the woman boiling plums who inadvertently detonated a bomb from WWII and the man who stuck a knife into his fellow truckers’ tyre during an argument only for the knife to fly back out into his own throat.
