A PASSION FOR THE ARTS
Passion Distribution starts the year with two new unique access docs giving a brand new reveal to two extraordinary artists. DAVID HOCKNEY: A BIGGER PICTURE (1x60’) is an extraordinary documentary shot over three years bringing us an unprecedented record of a major artist at work. It is a unique portrait of what inspires and motivates today’s greatest living artist. Produced and directed by Bruno Wollheim for Coluga Pictures, on its premier transmission on BBC1 the film drew 1.6m viewers, winning its slot with a 12.4% audience share beating Big Brother on C4! It also had the highest iPlayer take-up in Imagine’s history. Executive producers for BBC1 Alan Yentob & Janet Lee. On the other side of the spectrum Mitch Winehouse gives us an emotional account as he works tirelessly to protect and save his daughter Amy Winehouse in MY DAUGHTER AMY (1x60’). The film aired on Channel 4 8th January 2010 and pulled in double the average ratings for the slot! Shot during her retreat and recovery in St Lucia, the film documents the preparation for her return, looking for a new home and hopefully a clean start. Coluga Pictures was founded in 2001 to make well-crafted documentaries that feed the mind and stir the heart. ‘A Bigger Picture’ is their second feature on David Hockney, following the award-winning BBC4 film ‘Double Portrait’. Other recent credits include ‘Portrait’ and ‘In Your Face’ (18x10’), both for Channel 4. Transparent Television is a young and dynamic production company focusing on factual and factual entertainment programming. First established in September 2006, recent credits include: Restoration Roadshow a 20x30’ series for the BBC, My Daughter Amy a 1x60’ documentary for C4 and 7 Faces in 7 Days an ‘Extraordinary People’ documentary for Five.
