In these desperate situations, the heroic hand of a stranger may be the difference between life and death for someone. Sometimes, in these extreme situations, it can simply be the superhuman spirit that keeps a person alive. All of these stories of bravery, defiance and heroic acts come from places confronted with extreme and death-defying situations around the globe.

On a frozen highway, heroic state troopers battle to save drivers and each other from imminent disaster; an afternoon drive goes horribly wrong, leaving one man lost, alone and miles from nowhere in the sweltering heat of the Arizona desert.

Episode 2: Swiftwater Silence & Buried Alive
Heroes battle the cold and current of a terrifying flash flood to reach a couple on a date with disaster; a sunny day at the beach turns deadly when a teenager digs too deep, and ends up buried alive.

Episode 3: Tornado Trouble & Construction Chaos
Storm chasers turn first responders after a terrifying tornado rips through a town; a life hangs in the balance when a wind fueled blaze burns out of control in a construction site.

Episode 4: Mountain Miracle & Deadly Derecho
College sweethearts trapped on a mountain; freakish storm turns a sailing regatta into a deadly duel with nature on the high seas.

Episode 5: Fire Then Flood & Hurricane Hell
In a year of extreme weather, raging fires, deadly mudslides, and horrific hurricanes, communities rally together to save themselves from disaster.

Episode 6: Last Ditch Landings
Two flights go wrong, forcing pilots to ditch their planes far from the safety of airport runways to save their passengers; an 80-year-old pilot puts his light airplane down on a glacier; Capt. Sully Sullenberger lands his plane on the Hudson River.

Episode 7: Dangerous Delivery & Surf Savior
A package courier pits the power of prayer against a giant tornado; a big wave rider battles for life in a battering offshore surf break.
