PASSION DISTRIBUTION ANNOUNCES MIPTV 2017 LINE UP

London, Thursday 23rd March 2017, Passion Distribution is delighted to bring to MIPTV 2017 an extensive slate of close to 200 hours of new factual entertainment, documentary and entertainment programming including DR CHRISTIAN WILL SEE YOU NOW, COLD JUSTICE, SPIES and THE GAME OF DATING.

New factual entertainment series with a medical theme include DR CHRISTIAN WILL SEE YOU NOW (10 x 60’) from Firecracker Films, which follows Dr Christian Jessen as he helps patients on the way to overcoming their life-changing conditions. The series launched 22nd March on UKTV’s W. DON’T TELL THE DOCTOR (10 x 60’) from Arrow Media for 5Star, follows four doctors who come to the aid of young men and women who are turning to self-diagnosis from online sites or crowd diagnosing amongst their peers, with disastrous consequences.

SPIES (4 x 60’ and Format) is the constructed documentary series which sees three former British Secret Intelligence Service operatives bring together a diverse group of fourteen people to test if they have the skills and qualities required to make it as “Spies”.  SPIES was produced by Minnow Films and GroupM Entertainment for Channel 4 and aired in January 2017.

Documentary series BLACK IS THE NEW BLACK (4 x 30’) features exceptional figures from politics, business, sport, science and music who share their insights into being black and British today. The series was produced for BBC Two by Pulse Films and Iconoclast and features Naomi Campbell, Thandie Newton, David Harewood, Ozwald Boateng, Trevor McDonald and Reggie Yates, amongst others. Passion Distribution has also acquired two new productions from BBC Studios for BBC Four, THE ART OF JAPANESE LIFE (3 x 60’) and HANDMADE IN JAPAN (3 x 30’ or 1 x 60’). THE ART OF JAPANESE LIFE is a landmark three-part series, where art historian Dr James Fox goes on a captivating journey through the art and history of one of the world's most enigmatic cultures. The series is accompanied by HANDMADE IN JAPAN which celebrates Japan's craft heritage with three films about the making of a Samurai sword, traditional pottery and distinctive Japanese lacquer ware. 

Further documentary series include BABY BALLROOM (8 x 60’) from Firecracker Films for 5Star, a vibrant new series which lifts the lid on the glamorous, dramatic and cut-throat world of competitive ballroom dancing for children. AM I PERFECT? (6 x 30’) from WildBear Productions which follows the journey of 19 year old Madeleine Humphreys, as she sets out on an all-consuming quest in an attempt to obtain Hollywood ‘perfection’. Passion Distribution continues representation of The Weather Channel content bringing to market their new factual documentary series THAT’S AMAZING (8 x 60’), which takes viewers into the great outdoors to find people doing amazing, untold, and curious things with weather and the elements.

Single documentary titles include CANNES: A GLAMOUR STORY (1 x 60’) from Pernel Media for Paris Premiere, which charts the stars, the glitz & glamour, and what happens backstage at the Cannes Film Festival on the eve of the festival’s 70th anniversary. CHASING DAD: A LIFE LONG ADDICTION (1 x 60’) produced by Rare Day for BBC Three, depicts one father’s long-term struggle with heroin addiction, told through the uniquely intimate perspective of his own son. Sundog Pictures’ THE TROUBLE WITH DAD (1 x 60’) explores the relationship between comedian and writer David Baddiel, his brother Ivor and their father Colin who suffers from one of the most extraordinary forms of dementia called Pick's Disease which aired on Channel 4 earlier this year. IRAQ AFTER ISIS (1 x 60’) reveals how the victory being won in Iraq may breed a new ISIS and new terror for the future. A Quicksilver production for Channel 4. SCOTTISH BOUNTY HUNTER (1 x 60’) produced by Mentorn Scotland for BBC Scotland and BBC One, is a fast paced documentary that follows the first British man working as both a bail bondsman and bounty hunter in the USA. THE BOY WHO TIRED TO KILL TRUMP (1 x 60’) explores how a young, middle class boy from suburban Surrey, who suffers from Asperger’s, ended up thousands of miles from home in the US and what drove him to attempt to kill one of the most powerful men in the world? A Firecracker Films production for BBC Three.

Passion Distribution will also launch the latest series of gripping US true crime series COLD JUSTICE (10 x 60’) in which Kelly Siegler, and her team of crime scene investigators and trained detectives put their knowledge and experience to work helping law-enforcement officers and families solve cold cases. A Magical Elves and Wolf Reality production for Oxygen.  ALL NEW TRAFFIC COPS S1 & 2 (13 x 60’) follows police units at the frontline in the fight against crime and disorder, catching those using the streets to break the law. A Mentorn Media production for Channel 5.

From A. Smith & Co comes THE GAME OF DATING (8 x 60’ & Format) the new dating gameshow where teams of friends and family watch real dates from the comfort of their homes and compete to win a grand prize which is currently airing on TV One in the US.  WINDOW WARRIORS (6 x 60’ & Format) is a new series where the worlds of art and commerce collide as eight of the most talented window merchandising designers compete to build elaborate displays and earn the approval of the judges. A Michael Levitt Productions production for GSN.

RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE returns for season 9 (14 x 60’) and also from producer World of Wonder comes comedy special NOT TODAY BIANCA, featuring RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Bianca Del Rio as she attempts to make it big in Hollywood (2 x 30’).

Returning entertainment series include ROBOT WARS S2 (6 x 60’) from Mentorn Scotland, BBC and SJP Media and Mentorn Media’s MAKE YOU LAUGH OUT LOUD S4 (13 x 60’). Factual entertainment series FIND IT, FIX IT, FLOG IT from HCA Entertainment is back for season 2 (20 x 60’) and documentary series UNREPORTED WORLD from Quicksilver Media returns for Season 33 (8 x 30’). Also returning are comedy series LOOKALIKES S2 (4 x 30’) from Knickerbockerglory and SCRUFFTS S2 (1 x 60’) from Mentorn Media.
