PASSION DISTRIBUTION ANNOUNCES MIPCOM 2017 SLATE

London, Monday 25th September, Passion Distribution will bring 300 hours of new content spanning Factual Entertainment, Entertainment, Documentary and Formats to MIPCOM 2017 – ranging from social experiment THE CLASS NEXT DOOR to eye-popping clip show JAPANDEMONIUM and compelling documentary series POMPEII: COUNTDOWN TO DISASTER.

Headlining the Factual Entertainment slate, THE CLASS NEXT DOOR (4 x 60’ and Format) is a brilliantly funny and warm series which features parents dusting off their school uniforms to see how they fare against their kids at school. They will work through the same curriculum and sit the same exams, and revisit some of the highs and lows of their formative years along the way. Made by Firecracker Films for Channel 4, the series explores what being an 11 year old child today is really like.

Other Factual Entertainment series include BIG FREEDIA BOUNCES BACK SEASON S6 (8 x 60’) and TRANSCENDENT S2 (7 x 30’) from the producers of RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE - World of Wonder. BIG FREEDIA BOUNCES BACK follows Big Freedia, the undisputed ambassador of the energetic New Orleans-based Bounce movement, on her journey toward super-stardom. TRANSCENDENT focuses on a group of young, talented trans women as they navigate their professional and personal lives in San Francisco.

New Entertainment programming includes JAPANDEMONIUM (6 x 30’) a fast-paced, action-packed series celebrating the very best and funniest clips from Japan’s iconic game shows. The series is produced by Zig Zag Productions for ITV1.

Returning series include ROBOT WARS S3 (8 x 60’ and Format), the national knockout competition to find the toughest, most advanced fighting robots which returns with its most thrilling and hotly contested battles yet to BBC TWO this autumn, and Firecracker Films’ medical intervention series DR CHRISTIAN WILL SEE YOU NOW S2 (8 x 60’) and BABY BALLROOM S2 (6 x 60’), which offers a fascinating insight into the cut-throat world of junior ballroom dancing competitions. Comedy series LOOKALIKES returns for a second season (4 x 30’) with more antics from the Lookalikes talent agency.  Returning lifestyle series include FIND IT, FIX IT, FLOG IT S3 (25 x 60’) and The GREAT ESCAPERS S3 (35 x 60’).

Headlining the Format slate, EMOGENIUS (Format) is an all-new half-hour comedic game show format about communication that taps into the massive popularity of emojis and text messaging from Game Show Enterprises for US channel GSN.

Documentary titles include new series POMPEII: COUNTDOWN TO DISASTER (3 x 60’) with Historian Dr Bettany Hughes, Archaeologist Raksha Dave and John Sergeant presenting a countdown through the final days of life in Pompeii. A Voltage TV production for Channel 5.

THE PEOPLE’S VET (20 x 60’) is an emotional, heart-warming and often humorous series following the daily life of vets and nurses in two charity pet hospitals, produced by Blakeway North for Channel 4. From The Weather Channel comes SOS: HOW TO SURVIVE (6 x 60’) which presents gripping true stories of people who find themselves in a life and death battle with the elements alongside survival techniques taught by expert Creek Stewart.

BARBIE: THE MOST FAMOUS DOLL IN THE WORLD (1 x 60’) follows retail expert and broadcaster Mary Portas (Mary Queen of Shops) as she delves into the iconic world of Barbie. A Sundog Pictures production for Channel 4. Also from Sundog Pictures, RYAN GANDER: THE IDEA OF JAPAN (1 x 60’) follows Ryan Gander OBE, a leading conceptual artist, who travels six thousand miles east of his Suffolk studio, to investigate how Japanese visual culture is closely linked to a special relationship with time. A Sundog Pictures production for BBC Four.

THE INTERNET, CANCER AND ME (1 x 60’) is a highly emotional documentary from AMOS Pictures for Channel 4. The documentary follows young cancer patients dealing with the high and lows of their battle with cancer who turn to the internet for comfort and support by uploading video blogs.

STUCK ON YOU (1 x 60’) reveals the intriguing story of Panini - how four Italian brothers took the childhood obsession for stickers and turned it into a worldwide multi-billion pound industry. A TenMonkeys Media production for ITV4.

Finally, jaw-dropping documentary THE SEX BOTS ARE COMING (1x 60’), filmed over two years, follows the creation of one of the world's first sex robots from Raw TV for Channel 4, TRUST ME, I’M A ROBOT (1 x 60’) is a warm-hearted ob-doc that gives a fascinating insight into a future of robotics as inventor and puppeteer David McGoran attempts to making a new kind of machine that humans trust. A Tuesday’s Child production for Channel 4.
