DRAG RACE LANDS IN THAILAND
London, Wednesday 17th January 2018 - Passion Distribution today announced that it has licensed the DRAG RACE format in Thailand. The deal marks the first license of the DRAG RACE format in Asia.
The Kantana Group acquired the DRAG RACE format, created by U.S.-based company World of Wonder, and is in production on a local version of the award-winning series - titled “DRAG RACE THAILAND.” In the debut season hosted by fashion stylist and trend setter, Art-Araya In-dra, ten of the top Thai drag queens will be invited to stir up the competition with their glamorous talents. DRAG RACE THAILAND is due to air on 15th February 2018 on LINE TV, which also airs the original RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE series.
The deal follows the local adaptation of DRAG RACE in Chile, known as THE SWITCH DRAG RACE: EL ARTE DEL TRANSFORMISMO, which is broadcast on Free TV channel Mega.
In the U.S., the hit series follows the most famous and celebrated drag queen in the world, RuPaul as he delivers a dazzling and hilarious performance as judge and mentor to the aspiring drag queen contestants. In 2017 RuPaul received his second consecutive win in the Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program. RUPAUL’s DRAG RACE airs on Logo TV and VH1, with season 10 due to air in Spring 2018. RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE: ALL STARS season 3 will begin airing on 25th January 2018.
