My Daughter Amy
(1 x 60)2010 is a crucial time for Amy Winehouse as she tries to rebuild her life and prove to her loved ones, her record company, the press and her fans, that music – not drugs, not Blake, not booze - is her priority for the new year.
Filmed through the eyes of Amy’s father Mitch, this upclose and personal documentary reveals the inside story of the consequences Amy’s superstardom, and the issues the Winehouse family face as they try to deal with tabloid scrutiny and the nightmare of addiction.
As Amy’s Dad, Mitch is pivotal in her life, her career and ultimately her rehabilitation. Amy’s situation consumes him every minute of the day. He’s torn apart by her addiction, her love for Blake and the trouble she constantly finds herself in.
This film follows Mitch on the regular transatlantic trips he has to make to keep an eye on Amy whilst she lives out in St Lucia and explores some of the paradoxes of Mitch's situation: As his daughter’s health improves, he finds himself with less of a role in her life – he's the first to admit that's something he misses, but as everyone tells him, it's time he let go and allowed Amy to make her own decisions.
But with Amy's recovery still so fragile, will he be able to take this advice and can Amy cope alone?
